Inflation on technology products is rising much faster than the economy in general, research by IT benchmarking provider KnowledgeBus has revealed.

With the pound falling to record lows since the Brexit vote in June, many vendors across the technology industry, including Apple and Microsoft, have announced major price increases – with some raising their trade prices by as much as 50%.

Based on a basket of typical products across a range of vendors, price levels and sectors, a KnowledgeBus IT product price index* reveals that the average IT product price has increased by 12.7% since June. This figure is remarkable as technology product prices traditionally fall, not rise, over the course of their lifecycle.
